WHP Telecoms, backed by private equity, signs third deal last month
A private equity-backed telecommunications company in Warrington, which works with companies like EE, 02 and BT, acquired its third business last month.
WHP Telecoms purchased Intelligent Communications Solutions for an undisclosed sum.
Founded in 2004 by Alex Welch and Matthew Riches, with Kevin Doncaster joining the director position in 2005, ICS Group has grown into a telecommunications rigging design and installation company headquartered in Braintree, Essex and a regional office in Cambridgeshire.
The group provides full design and build services to multinational telecommunications company Telefonica in London and the South East, in addition to providing sites for many other suppliers across the UK.
Based in Warrington with seven offices and a workforce of approximately 700, WHP is a provider of infrastructure support and deployment services to the UK telecommunications industry.
Equistone Partners Europe completed the management buyout of WHP in 2018 and defined a strategy of organic growth and strategic acquisitions.
The latest transaction marks the third investment the company made last month after acquiring Redhall Network Solutions in March and Blue Clarity Design Services in April.
WHP CEO Rob Potter said: “ICS is a unique company renowned for its design and build capability, which WHP has committed to investing in in recent years.
“They have a great list of high profile clients who have clear synergies with our larger portfolio, so we are delighted to welcome Alex, Kevin, Matt and the whole team to the group.
“This transaction closely follows our recent acquisition of Blue Clarity and Redhall Networks and we believe it further strengthens our customer service offering, which will benefit UK communications networks as investment in 5G and fiber s ‘accelerated.”
