Hot dogs for fresh paws

Welcoming foreign students

Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, many international students have postponed their dream of studying for a year in the United States. With the vaccine rolling out and infection rates falling, many students are hoping that the 2021-2022 school year will be the year their dreams come true. Ashley Byrne, local coordinator of International Cultural Exchange Services (ICES), hopes to find local host families willing to open their hearts and homes to a student aged 15-18 who would like to spend the school year in the States -United. States. Students come with their pocket money and insurance. So far, students have been accepted into United, East Liverpool, Columbiana and Salem City school districts. Byrne is currently looking for host families in the Lisbon, East Palestine, Wellsville, Beaver Local and Southern Local school districts. Pancake Lunch at Beaver Creek

Beaver Creek State Park Pioneer Village hosts a Sunday pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon in the village barn, 12013 Echo Dell Road, East Liverpool. Breakfast consists of buttermilk and buckwheat pancakes as well as sausage and a drink for a donation of $ 6. The breakfast is sponsored by the Friends of Beaver Creek State Park. All proceeds are used to maintain and repair historic buildings in Pioneer Village. All buildings will be open during breakfast.

Community focus groups

The Lisbon Region Chamber of Commerce is moving forward with the community vision and has scheduled a series of focus groups for July 14. There will be three focus groups that will cover education and workforce development, social and community service organizations and local businesses. The focus groups will be held at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Mayor Pete Wilson is currently coordinating the groups and individuals can contact him with any suggestions for attendees.

At 6:00 p.m. on July 14, the regular committee meeting will take place.

Amateur radio tests

During the field day on June 26-27, the East Palestine Amateur Radio Club W8GMM will offer technical, general and additional testing. Pre-registration is required. Anyone planning to take a test must provide two pieces of identification, one of which has a photo; their FCC Registration Number (FRN) obtained from and a calculator with erased memory. Virtual assessment program

Professional Evaluator Mike Ivankovich will present a Zoom program, “25 categories guaranteed to disappoint when selling your household items”, at 6 p.m. on June 24. In this session, he will explain why many things people own may be worth much less than they thought. It will also reveal the categories that are probably worth more than you expect. This free event is billed as a collaboration of PLUS libraries. Registration is required in order to receive the Zoom link for the program. Vaccination clinic

A vaccination clinic will be held at the Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center, 1 Lincoln Park, Midland, Pennsylvania. The first dose is scheduled from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on June 21 and the second from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on July 12. The clinic is open to anyone 12 years of age or older. Antique cameras at the Lepper Library

The current Lepper Library exhibit in the community showcase consists of vintage cameras. The collection belongs to a patron who has been collecting for several years. Cameras dating from 1895 to 1998 are on display. It includes film cameras, instant cameras and film cameras, all in working order. Some of the brands featured are Kodak, Seneca, Bolsey, Voigtlander, Agfa, Yashica, Dejur, Polaroid and more. The camera exhibit will be in the library until July 28. The showcase houses temporary collections or exhibitions on all kinds of subjects.
