  • The children had the opportunity to ride in Cheltenham during the launch of a new initiative between the Jockey Club and the WellChild and Cotswold RDA charities.

    The ‘Giddy up for Good’ program was launched on August 24, with eight young people supported by WellChild enjoying sessions led by the Cotswold RDA team. WellChild cares for seriously ill children and adolescents.

    Twenty-time champion jumping jockey and WellChild Ambassador AP McCoy presented rosettes and took a behind-the-scenes tour of the racetrack.

    “As a WellChild Ambassador I know how important the support they provide to their families is and giving the children the opportunity to ride here in Cheltenham through the Cotswold RDA and Jockey Club is an amazing experience for them “, did he declare.

    Ian Renton, Regional General Manager of the Jockey Club, added that it was “a joy to be able to offer the children the opportunity to ride the RDA ponies in this iconic place”.

    “When we partnered with WellChild in February 2021, we knew this was the start of a fantastic relationship,” he said.

    “We are very fortunate to have the Cotswold RDA based on site with us all year round, so being able to work together with the RDA team and WellChild to provide this unique opportunity for children and their families is wonderful.

    The Scottish Country Store Network has pledged to donate to the Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) for every bag of food sold over the next 12 months.

    The brand will donate 25 pence per bag of Harbro food sold to RDA groups across Scotland.
