Liverpool pride paints the city rainbow!
Liverpool Pride returned to the city over the weekend, painting the city’s rainbow as more than 12,000 people joined the annual ‘March with Pride’ from St George’s Hall to the festival site at Pier Head.
The Barclays main stage provided a platform for headliners Boney M and a host of local talent from across the city region, including performances from Trip Advisor’s UK’s #1 Customers’ Choice LGBT Venue, Linda Gold’s FunnyBoyz, Powerhouse Scouse Singer, Comedy Hostess and Cilla Black’s distant relative, Filla Crack, who will perform with previous Vogue Ball winners House of La Porta, Young Homotopia and Many Hands, One Heart.
Some local LGBT+ venues, including OMG, The Lisbon and Superstar Boudoir, have also brought some of their most beloved artists and hosts to the stage.
Donna Hall, trustee of the LCR Pride Foundation – the organization responsible for delivering Pride to Liverpool – said:
“It’s been a hugely difficult few years up until today, but finally being able to come together to celebrate Pride in Liverpool was a fantastic feeling. With the prejudice and injustice the LGBT+ community in the UK is currently facing, with constant attacks on our rights, it is more important than ever that we are able to be visible and come together as a community, with our allies, to celebrate our identities and continue to fight to ensure that the Liverpool City region and the country as a whole to be a safe and welcoming place for LGBT+ people.
