Yorkville Police invest in passing counterfeit money to Venice Pizzeria on Oriskany Boulevard in Yorkville, NY.
The incident happened on Saturday, January 15 just before 1 p.m. and involved counterfeit $20 bills.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Yorkville Police Department at (315) 736-8331.
The police say IIf you see anything suspicious, please contact them immediately.
There are also helpful tips for identifying counterfeit bills, especially for identifying a counterfeit $20 bill.
Counterfeit notes have increased over the past year. We previously reported fake money floating around upstate New York in Oneida, NY, and north from Saratoga, NY to Hudson Falls, NY. Police across the state have provided tips on how to spot this fake money and it’s pretty easy.
Keep keeping an eye out and looking through your money to make sure you don’t have a fake stashed in your wallet.

Another thing to keep in mind is gift cards. State Controller Thomas DiNapoli urges New York residents to use vacation gift cards they have received in a timely manner.
DiNapoli says if not, the money could possibly be given to the New York State Office of Unclaimed Fundss.
