Fans react to Danny Ings shock move at Aston Villa
SAINTS fans were quick to voice their views after Danny Ings’ shocking departure from Aston Villa.
The 29-year-old’s future was decided tonight after the England striker was confirmed to have signed a three-year contract with the Midlands side.
Ings’s departure from St Mary’s ends a 100-game stint on the south coast for the forward, who signed for the Liverpool Saints permanently in 2019 after a successful loan spell.
The Daily Echo understands that the fee for Ings to move to Villa is £ 30million, with Saints fans having their say on the deal on social media.
Here are some reactions to tonight’s news.
Appreciate that there is still time but this summer has been really poor for #SaintsFC. Losing Bertrand and Ings is huge. We needed to strengthen ourselves and as it is, we are coming out much weaker.
Another season of hope that there are 3 worse teams.

What a day for #saintsfc Fans:
– 3rd kit released
– Friendly 1-0 against Levanter with good performances from Diallo, Redz, KWP, Tella
– Ings moves sideways to Villa. The saints take it.
– fans divided on Twitter.

Wow big #SaintsFC News! The first standing @FrannyBenali picked up MBE! Then the fans come back to St Marys! Eventually, Ings left. Son emptied. But invest the money wisely and it’s better than it goes for now. Need goals this season!

I don’t know what everyone’s sad about, we already have Ings replacement

I can’t wait to see Danny Ings tear up the Champions League with Aston Villa next season … #SaintsFC

Amazing how quickly Danny Ings went from “king of con artists” to “injury prone striker” by some of our fans!

Ings was in his last year of contract, could have left for nothing at the end of the season. We have £ 30million to reinvest, that’s obvious for #SaintsFC I have no doubt that a replacement is planned and that gives Adams & Tella greater opportunities this season. Emptied, but no player is bigger than the club

Danny Ings’ contract ends next year, he didn’t want an extension so rather than get nothing for him next year, 30million now is a good deal I think. Thank you Ingsy for your precious service… Now Nathan Tella, it’s time to show your courage !! #SaintsFC

It will always be difficult to replace Ings with its proven premium quality. Certainly don’t think that a player from the league will do it right away. Need a proven prem scorer to fill the boots. #SaintsFC

As upset as I am to see Ings go, we have to take the positive. £ 30million for a 29-year-old who only had a year left on his contract is a good deal no matter how baffling the decision regarding which club he went to is. No excuse to reinvest now #SaintsFC

There’s no way Danny Ings was ever a #saintsfc fan, no fan would leave us for a side step at the Villa!
