CAN promises to educate Lagos voters on Sanwo-Olu’s re-election in 2023
The Lagos State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria pledged on Saturday to back Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for a second term in next year’s poll.
CAN State President, Bishop Stephen Adegbite made the statement during the CAN 2022 Interfaith Prayer Service held at the headquarters of the Apostolic Church of God in Lagos.
Mr Adegbite said it was wrong to change a winning team, noting that Governor Sanwo-Olu had done well in improving the lot of people in the state.
He said 2021 has been a tough year which has pushed Lagosians to their limits with the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic which has crippled the country’s economy.
“We thank God for having a child of God as governor. His pedigree as a high Christian has continuously manifested in his dedication to serving humanity in different strata of society even in difficult times.
“For us to thank him for his good work during this first term is to rally behind him and re-elect him for a second term so that he can complete many of his people-oriented projects at different stages of development. ‘completion.
“As the voice of the Christian fold in the state, the CAN cannot associate itself with what cannot benefit the common good.
“CAN has therefore decided to embark on a statewide voter registration and awareness campaign to carry out the Sanwo-Olu 2023 project,” he said.
In his response, the Governor who was a special guest at the event, thanked God for saving people’s lives during the difficult time of COVID-19.
He said his government would continue to provide an enabling environment for services and businesses to thrive.
